Fishing Tips for February & March
- The lake offers many unique depths which means many species can thrive at once.
- The West Dam continues to be a good spot for anglers wanting to troll for trout.
- Bait anglers will still find Power Baits or night crawlers to be their best bet.
- Bass anglers will want to use Carolina or drop-shot rigs. Purples, greens, and light blues are the best colors.
- Rip or spinner baits, worked slowly, have been producing bites in the shallower areas with good structure.
- Many bass are still sitting deep, anglers may want to abandon the shallower areas and give some deeper parts of the lake a try.
- Like some bass, pan fish can be found in 10-15 ft of water, near rocky shorelines.
- Hot spots move around. Be sure to check in with Marina staff to get the most up to date info on where to go.
- Weather will be changing and improving over the next few months. Pay close attention as this always has a profound effect on fishing.
